I am the Senior Graphic Designer for Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas. I have been a part of our media department for 6 years and love to use my God-given talents to inspire and encourage people through visual communication. I used plywood, nails, spray paint and embroidery thread to weave the phrase “Unity Creates Strength” into a three-dimensional composition. The final piece was then photographed by a member of our team, Roland Turner, and digital printing was provided by Miklis Printing of Garland, Texas.

Our team of 5 graphic designers decided to build five separate posters, each one preserving the same type-treatment. “Unity Creates Strength” is a loose translation of the Haitian national motto, “L’ Union Fait La Force.” The designers took complete ownership and creative license on his/her own poster. Each interpretation was then torn to pieces and hand-stitched back together to yield the sixth and culminating, “Frankenposter.” The final collaboration reveals the ultimate message—that the fractured pieces of Haiti will come back together to form an even stronger nation with help from everyone’s unique contribution.
